Sydney trip

Day 1: Travel and Arrival March 7th

Woke up 2 am , at airport by 330 am.Received A text that flight was delayed & will now depart @ 730 pm. We protested, we're told we can get in on Qantas flight then they said we would be on a Gold coast flight @ 7 am, 5 hr layover then head off to Sydney. We met " Tony Uncle" aka Dipak Bajaj on the flight. He threw a tantrum as he was not happy with service. Did customs @ Gold coast,  had bacon egg roll @ Rydges with hot chocolate then relaxed at airport. Finally reached Sydney at 3 pm. At Courtyard by Marriott @ 4 pm. Got kebab roll chicken, pide from Kismet Cafe. Zai back by 515 pm. Maya broke her thumb so no dinner with her & fly. Zai & me went back to kebab shop as the kebab yumm. Also got flat noodles from Ipoh Hawker. Crashed as we were tired

Day 2: Morning Activities 8th March Friday

Woke up, went for buffet brekkie.Was good. Met Zai work mates. Zai left for her event at 10 am.Suz & me took 259 bus to Macquarie shopping centre. Good mall . We got fried chicken Korean & Lebanese bread. Back by 1230 pm via 197 bus which stops a bit far from the Courtyard by Marriott.  Left at 245 pm for Circular Quay. Took 292 bus to Lang Park. Went on the harbor Bridge. Visited St Patrick's Cathedral in city. Took light rail to Circular Quay station then ferry to Manly. Lovely views of opera house etc. Met Zai at Manly, she was on the other side. Had the best fish & ships with lemonade.  Spent time at beach. Took ferry back then train to Wynyard & 292 bus to Courtyard. Busy day. In bed by 9 pm

Day 3
9th March Sat
Woke up by 7 am. Had shower, packed, had up &: go then checked out took taxi to our Airbnb @ Castle hill. Nice place but a bit secluded. 1030 am we took uber to Maya home in Castle Hill as bus stop a bit far away. Nice home they have I'm the shopping 🛍 mall. Sathyan took me 4 a mall tour while the girls gossipped. Lol. Darshan and his wife came by 12 pm & we went to Hamara a Gaddi in Kellyville for lunch. Had lollipops,  cken 65, goat biryani, rotis. Good food. We shouted them lunch. Around A$220. They took us to bus stop & we boarded T12 to Castle hill as we were meeting Zai's friends Esther & Su. Took Suz around the mall whilst Zai & Esther chatted. Su was late. Once she arrived, we went to Korean place Gami for beer & fried chicken.  Carlton zero beer tasted like water. The presentation of the food was great but not so tasty. Esther dropped us back to our airbnb by 645 pm. Rested & had gozleme of chicken & mushrooms. Zai booked the taxi to airport for 5 am. In bed by 9 am. Holiday nearing an end. Could not check in online for jetstar.

Day 4
10 Mar Sunday Woke up 345 am, shower, up & go, cleant the place & took 5 am taxi to airport. Ali the drive was courteous.  Empty roads. 40 min ride & it cost A$220. Lol. Cheap as. Lucky Zai had a A$110 ,cab charge thru her work. Had a beef pie 🥧 at airport with hot chocolate,  Zai had croissant , mochachino . Suz shared the pie & flat white. Good pie. Boarded Jetstar 820 am. Zai headed to her gate.  We waited for Zai at Auckland airport * had KFC. Zai's flight was delayed 30 mins. Thanks, Jesus fir a hood holiday. Thanks, Epson & Zai too.

In March, Epson Australia celebrated its 40th Anniversary. The NZ team was invited and along with me, Steve and Suz came to Sydney. Their flight and mine were separate as mine was arranged by the company and theirs was a credit from Jetstar. The Jetstar flight was a mess. They almost could not go. Thanks to persistence, they managed to get a flight but they got diverted via Gold Coast. In a way, it was a blessing as they got to see a different place. 


 We stayed at Courtyard by Marriot hotel.




The Epson Anniversary started with a kick-off at Macquarie office. It was a good opportunity to meet the staff that we meet mostly via email.

On Friday, 8th March was the 40th celebration at Manly. We took the bus from the Epson office to Manly.

The celebration was excellent, it was great to meet more of the Australian team.The location was great, though the weather was quit hot. The Epson president was there and he also performed.

After the celebration, I met up with Steve and Suz. We got a chance to explore the beach and had some yummy fish and chips. The ferry ride back to Sydney and the hotel was awesome. The sunset was spectacular. It was the highlight of the trip for me.



On Saturday morning, we took an Uber and moved to our AirBNB at Castlehill. The location was quiet and the house was just great. We went to see Maya and her family at Rousehill. Suz and I were excited with the location as it was a shopping area. Their house is so close to all shops it was wonderful, but we did not get to explore so much since we had to go out for lunch and then later meet my friends Su and Esther for dinner. I had a lovely time meeting my friends and introducing them to Steve and Suz.

The day was full-on but it was worth it.

Musings on my childhood by Zai

  I had a great childhood. I had fun and freedom to explore the world around me. And even though we did not have everything in life, we still enjoyed life the best of what we had. Davao and Tagum were beautiful homes for us. The rural life in Tagum was special and it helped us appreciate the beauty of living a simple life. It gave us wonderful memories which I treasure. I had memories of my childhood in Bajada, Davao. It was there where we played under the Mansanitas tree just in front of the rented house, we would play on Zamel’s toy car. The car was big enough for us that we could ride it. When I was little, I used to think the tree was so big. Everything looked so big when you are a child. When I see a Mansanitas tree now, I realise that it is not that big after all. I vaguely remember playing near the neighbors house where I would jump over the canal. It must have been a small canal but it seemed like a fun thing to do when you are young. I must have been under five years old...
