De Quervain's tenosynovitis

De Quervain's tenosynovitis is a painful condition that affects the tendons on the thumb side of the wrist, causing pain and difficulty with thumb and wrist movements, especially during gripping or pinching. It is often caused by repetitive hand or wrist motions and is more common in women and people aged 30 to 50.

Who would have thought that lifting our luggage during our trip to the Philippines and India will cause this injury on my left wrist. It seems like a normal thing to do. It was not unusual to carry the luggage though they were heavy. I have done it so many times. Unfortunately, this time I was out of luck. The day after I lifted the luggage at the Santa Cruz AirBNB, I woke up with the pain on the wrist. I thought nothing of it. It seemed like a minor sprain. But 3 months later, the pain persisted. Then last week on the 2nd April 2026, I had an injection on the wrist tendons to help with the pain and inflammation.

Hopefully after two weeks, I can feel the benefit of the injection. The pain had been waking me up in the mornings. And I don't have the full use of my left hand. It has been very inconvenient.
